Introduction
One thing we learnt was they breed more like a characin than a danio.
Spawned 11.1.02, fish used 4 males 2 females.
Tank setup
36 x 10 x 9 inches,
temperature
76-78 °F, pH 6, GH 3,
decor
sponge filter,
a clump of java moss.
General behaviour
These fish are quite unique in the way they spawn, a dominant male took position over the moss
his colours intensified more than the other males, he made frequent dashes towards the 2 females
showing his flanks to them then dashing back to the moss trying to tempt one of the females.
Spawning and hatching
Once lured the breeding starts far more delicate than other danios,
they seemed to spawn over a couple of days, the eggs take 3 days to hatch and a further 4 days to become free-swimming.
Feeding
First food paramecium for roughly a week then micro-worms, crushed flake and
BBS.
Adult colouration was 2 months old.
These fry seemed to get velvet at the drop of a hat.
Remark
Thats copied from my log book so apologies for it being long winded.
